It appears I have been away too long. I'm glad to see some of you are still around from the other forum. I'm guessing the Australian forum is no longer active?
Hi Mark,
It has been a little while. I have not forgot about your honey. I lost about 5 gallons to too much water content, it soured. I lost the bees after that and have not had time to purchase anymore.
Hi Marcel,
I think I saw where you were still selling rainbows on Aquaticbid.com. I'm looking forward to purchasing some more.
Hi Rainbowbrat,
I'm glad to see you decided to keep breeding rainbows. The last time we chatted I think you were thinking about getting out of the hobby.
Is Gary still around?
As you may remember from a few years ago I was working on remodeling my house before I started breeding rainbows. I gave up on finishing and purchased several breeder tanks. Hurricane Michael decided I needed to finish the remodel before I had a chance to get the tanks setup, what a mess. Now my wife is a little scared of water in the house :-). She will get over it. I've planned for two 120 gallons in the Den. I am ready to get back in the hobby.
Thank you for keeping things going.
Cecil

Hey Cecil! Welcome to our forum. Are you on Facebook? We have a pretty good group called Rainbowfish Live on there...that's where most people have migrated, but we maintain this forum to post articles, for people to trade fish and eggs; and for people who aren't on Facebook.
How bad were y'all hit by hurricane Michael? Did you have to move?

Hi Lori,
The area was hit pretty hard. Pictures do not do the damage justice. We are living in a travel trailer behind our home. We purchased an old homestead on two acres in town seven years ago. It is a major change from our last house, you could shake hands with the neighbor through your window. The funny part is we only moved 3/4 of a mile. About 2/3 of our home is tore out to the studs. A large pine tree fell through the roof over the master bedroom, hallway, and guest bedroom. A 300+Lb concrete/brick chimney topper blew off damaging the den. I've seen damages from hurricanes before but nothing this bad or widespread. Insurance for many people has become a nightmare. I am blessed to have friends in construction. Many of them will not take on any new work. They are fitting in what I need between other jobs.
The good news is in two or three months we will be 95% finished with the remodel. I have nine 40 gallon breeder tanks in a shed waiting to be moved into the house. I"m hoping to have them and my display tanks setup before the end of the year. Plans change but for now I still want two 120 gallon tanks in the Den. I have a few fish left in a 40 gallon breeder. I have not purchased any fish in several years. I knew I had to move the large tanks to finish the remodel.
Is Mark on Facebook? I just joined Rainbowfish Live on FB.
I'm glad to see you are still around. I hope everything is going well.
Thank you, Cecil
